DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors Certification, PART1
DOT Reasonable Suspicion Training for Supervisors is a 2-hour course required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. The primary objective of this training is to prepare regulated employers, supervisors, and managers in fulfilling the DOT’s mandatory training requirements while equipping them with the knowledge and awareness needed to identify and respond to the effects of employee substance abuse and alcohol misuse. “Train the Trainer” Forklift Certification now available at EXPO
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires operators of powered industrial trucks (forklifts, etc.) must be trained in the operation of the equipment before they are allowed to operate them independently. The training must consist of instruction (both classroom-type and practical training) in proper vehicle operation, the hazards of operating the vehicle in the workplace, and the requirements of the OSHA standard for powered industrial trucks.
Many shops have forklifts handy to do the heavy lifting, but meeting OSHA regulations for training can often be challenging. UMA is bringing “Train the Trainer” to the EXPO learning sessions so management can supply their designated employees their own forklift training in house that meets the OSHA regulations, saving time and money.
This training session will take place Friday, February 21, 10:00 AM to 12:15 PM and resumes 2:15 -4:10 PM. The class is open to all UMA Motorcoach EXPO attendees; however, OSHA regulations limit the class size. To guarantee a slot, email Ken Presley at kpresley@uma.org once you are registered.
Participants completing the 4-hour training will receive a certificate.

It’s right there in the regulations, companies and individuals who employ commercial motor vehicle drivers are required to provide adequate training and supervision of drivers while drivers are under their employment.
Employers must ensure that their drivers are trained to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle by requiring that drivers possess the level of knowledge specified in 49 CFR § 383.111 and the driving skills specified in 49 CFR § 383.113.
Your challenge comes when you need to provide the training to your existing pool of drivers. What are the subjects? How do you prepare classes that drivers will actually learn something?
The Model Motorcoach Driver Curriculum will provide you with everything you need, instructor guidance, formal presentations, all for free. This session will review this program and show you how you can put it to work for you and immediately improve compliance and safety.
